 What are the Training Schools?

Training Schools are organised on Action related research topics and provide dissemination opportunities for an Action’s activities. Training Schools provide intensive training in emerging research topics within the laboratories and organisations involved in the Action. Participants are mainly, but not exclusively, young researchers involved in the Action (www.cost.eu).

Training Schools are aimed at:

• Widening the knowledge of the Action activities.

• Providing intensive training on a new and emerging subject.

• Offering familiarisation with unique equipment or new methods in one of the laboratories of the Action.

Depending on the topic and the aims the TS will be organised in a form of workshop, course or seminar, where experts in their research field will provide lectures and roundtable discussions, as well as practical training.

Duration

The duration of a Training School is normally between three days and two weeks.

Eligible Costs

COST support covers organisation of the school and participation support to both trainers (including external experts) and trainees.

Local Organiser

The local organisers will receive fixed amount of local organiser support according to COST rules.

Trainers

The following items can be reimbursed: travel and subsistence for trainers – same as for participants to COST meetings, but no lecture fee.

Trainees

The Action MC defines the financial contribution in the form of a Trainee Grant for all trainees who will be attending the approved Training School. Trainee Grants do not necessarily cover all expenses related to attending the Training School. The Trainee Grant is a contribution to the overall travel, accommodation and meal expenses of the Grantee. Different Grants amount can be attributed to each trainee.
